Tips for Your Golf Drive
The most useful tips in golf are the ones that explain to you how to strike the ball and to make it go far and straight. A high percentage of golfers believe that they have to strike the ball forcefully. This is totally false. All that is necessary to transfer the power that is generated by corkscrewing your body to the point of impact of the golf ball.
To hit the golf ball far and on line, you have to hit it the same way each and every time. If you can develop a consistent golf swing, your chances of hitting the golf ball straight will be high. If you can repeat a power swing, your resulting shots will be repeated over and over. Your golf balls will stay within the fairways or they will land on the middle of the greens.
It is always best to be very relaxed throughout your golf swing. If you are stressing your muscles during your swing, your swing will not be fluid and problems will occur. My recommendation is that you practice breathing in and out just before hitting the ball.
Another great tip for driving the golf ball is to condition your body between golf rounds. A stronger body that is flexible will produce a much more fluid swing that will hit the golf ball further and on a straight path towards each golf hole. So, try stretching before each round of golf. On the days when you are not golfing, try lifting small dumbbells to strengthen your arms and chest.
Make sure that your set-up at the golf ball is correct. If you are not aligned correctly, you will not hit the ball straight. Envision your body just flowing through the golf ball instead of trying to hit down on the golf ball.
At the top portion of your swing, focus on propelling your body weight to the back of the golf ball. Most people try to envision hitting the ball high into the air instead of focusing their power. Also, at the top of your swing, you should notice that most of your weight is on your back foot.
Lots of golfer let the energy that they had stored during their back swing is lean outwards. Try to keep your body corkscrewed tightly just before you start your down stroke. This can be done by ensuring that your right elbow is bend towards your bellybutton. Also, when finishing the downswing, try to switch your body weight to your front foot.
A great way to align your body correctly for a golf shot is to imagine a railroad track between yourself and your target area. Try to concentrate keeping your body within the train tracks during the swing. This golf drill will make sure that you remain focused on where to aim your shot properly.
